Giving back some of the love we have received through the superb photo entries from our HHPHOTOS Contest, we feature the contestants in this 2-part series…

Our HHPHOTOS Competition has been a great ride and, once again, we would like thank all the contestants who joined in and shared  their beautiful photos this Spring. As we tally all the likes and votes for each of the contestant’s submitted photo entry, we are delighted to share the profiles of those contestants who were so kind to give us their time for a short interview and tell us more about their photography experiences, preferred subjects and dream homes from our portfolio.

Contestant One: Nico Chapman from Hossegor, Follow him on Instagram at @chapman_nico

HH: What made you start doing photography?

Chapman: I live near Hossegor in South-West France about 600m from the beach. I naturally picked up a camera and photographed the stunning landscapes we have in the area. Being a surfer myself and living near the beach, I also started photographing the local surfers when the waves were too big for me to surf – selling them too if they wanted copies. In 2012 I attended the BA(Hons) Press & Editorial Photography course at Falmouth University in the UK. I was always inclined towards having my own brand and making money from a young age, so photography was a great way for me to do that. Hiding behind the camera and recording the life around me was always something that came naturally to me, so I made it a habit.

HH: Which subjects are your favorite to take photos and why?

Chapman: Candid street photography, landscapes and properties are a few subjects I really enjoy. For the candid photos, I love capturing a fleeting moment, something that isn’t posed and will never happen, the same again. Landscapes for the sheer beauty of our planet. And properties because I have a slight addiction with buildings – that might come from growing up with a father who is an architect.

HH: Which property would you dream of having from our website and take photos of and why?

Chapman: I would dream of this property http://www.home-hunts.com/property/hh-10374321-provence-var-provence-coast-le-pradet (HH-10374321). I have a thing for big stately houses/villas – ones a bit like those in the movie “The Great Gatsby”. You can’t but help feeling special when walking through such houses, and this one has a sea view, which is a must for me – there’s something therapeutic about the ocean!

Chapman dreams of owning a dream property with a sea view. This prime estate is from Le Pradet

Contestant Two: Pam Smith from Deux-Sevrès region of France, Follow her on Instagram at @pjphoto79

HH: What made you start doing photography?

Smith:
I have always loved photography, my dad encouraged me from an early age and I have always had a camera to hand. When we moved to France the pace of life here meant that I had more opportunities to get out and about more with the camera and having so much countryside, architecture and water to hand all added to my passion. I just love seeing everything from the perspective of the lens…

HH: Which subjects are your favorite to take photos of and why?

Smith: Oh now, that’s a hard question as I love taking photos of everything and anything, honestly!! I love people (Weddings and Portraits) and animals as much as seascapes and architecture, flowers, food and drink and interiors! However, if I was pinned down it would probably be Flowers/Architecture flowers are intricate and finding the detail in something like a Dandelion seed head something you don’t tend to notice when walking past or the details on the Church entrance doorway, for me architecture and history is fascinating just like a flower!

HH: Which property would you dream of having from our website and take photos of and why?

Smith:  I am rather liking this property http://www.home-hunts.com/property/hh-11614735-s-w-france-midi-pyrenees-lot-cahors-figeac-gourdon the history alone must have a few stories to tell! Vaulted ceilings, Jacuzzi and wine cellar what’s not to love I do love history so photos that tell a story is something that I would happily do!

Smith loves this stone medieval chateaux (HH-11614735) located in Gourdon priced at 1,100,000

Contestant Three: Sandra Lambert from Robion, in Vaucluse, Follow her on Instagram at @sl_luberonphotography

HH: What made you start doing photography?

Lambert: As far as I can remember, I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures using my parents’ camera… but I started doing it very seriously when I bought my first camera, an Minolta Argentic camera. It’s kind of like if I was born with a camera in place of my eyes. Let’s say my pictures reflect the way I see the world.

HH: Do you have a website?

Lambert: I have several websites (www.objectif-reportages.com) (www.provence-luberon-photographe.fr – photography database on creation) but I think my Facebook public page (https://www.facebook.com/ObjectifReportagesPhotographies.SandraLambert/) is the best place to view my work, as I keep it updated for the time being.

HH: Which subjects are your favorite to take photos of and why?

Lambert:  I love taking landscapes, as it is easy and there is no problem of person rights (lol). But I also like shooting portraits, everyday portrait, not posed or studio portraits.

HH: Which property would you dream of having from our website and take photos of and why?

Lambert: This is the kind of property I would buy if I had the money – http://www.home-hunts.com/property/hh-7066088-riviera-st-paul-area-st-paul. A wonderful spot, offering different ambiances, embracing the view. For a photographer, there are plenty of opportunities to play with the lights, the ambiances, the spots, and to reveal the potential and the feel of this place. I think the presentation shows too many wide-angle photos, and not enough close-up to show the ambiances, the perspectives… because in such properties, everything has been calculated to fit in the eye wherever you look.

Lambert dreams of this prime property located in St. Paul (HH-7066088) in the French Riviera, with a cool price tag of 16,500,000 !

Contestant Four: Escudo de Carne from Seattle, Washington, follow on Instagram at @escudo.de. carne

HH: What made you start doing photography?

Escudo.de.carne: I have always liked art, so when I got my hands on a camera, I found I enjoyed it a lot.

HH: Which subjects are your favorite to take photos of and why?

Escudo.de.carne: I like to go out and walk around, taking pictures of nature, or maybe an interesting thing I find. I also like to take pictures of something I’ve done that I’ve been working on, like art. I’ve been learning to draw, and I find it helps to have some positive comments for motivation.

HH: Which property would you dream of having from our website and take photos of and why?

Escudo.de.carne: I think I would like Mirepoix in France. It looks nice, and has a pool. I think I could get some nice pictures from that

One of the
lovely estates found in Mirepoix (HH-11388630) with a vast landscaped garden, swimming pool and pond, priced at 1,150,000

Contestant Five: Gina Grigoraki from the island of Crete in Greece, follow her on Instagram at @moonlight_prinss

HH: What made you start doing photography?

Grigoraki: For me photography is life, every time I open my eyes I saw a new shot, I catch a magic moment and can keep it forever alive. I started photography when I was 10 years old.

HH: Which subjects are your favorite to take photos of and why?

Grigoraki: My shot usually take part in nature (sea, mountain, old towns) with or without humans.

HH: Which property would you dream of having from our website and take photos of and why?

Grigoraki: All the properties are awesome! It’s so difficult to decide. It suits more to me the island style and air in a house, so calm and relax. The white colors when the blue sky get in from all the windows in that time you understand if you are close to them some think of something magical to on the otherside. All the properties are fantastic!

This white modern apartment (HH-11153174 ) with vast sea view and blue skies in Puerto de Andratx, in the southwest of Mallorca describes one of the ideal dream properties of Grigoraki. Great deal for its price of 615,000!
